Of course the best known single adult in the Bible was Jesus. In fact he was a never-married. Somewhere in Ellen White's writings (anyone know where?) she says Jesus never married because he didn't want to put a spouse through what he knew he would have to face. I believe he was also single because he needed everything he had to focus on his mission to save a lost world. This is often why the single adult who has been given the 'gift' of singleness as found in Matthew 11:19, has 'gift.' It iis so they can focus totally on the mission that God has given them to perform.
So, we must ask, have we been given the 'gift' of singleness? Can we do more for the Lord as a single than if we were married? Some can anwer 'yes' while others answer 'no.'
