The British Columbia Conference Adventist Single Adult Ministries fed the Vancouver's homeless on December 1, 2007. I promised pictures and they are included in this post.

Here are Michael Wixwat our conference treasurer peeling carrots with Hazel. We did the food preparation at the Aldergrove SDA Church on Friday in preparation for Saturday.

LOOKS like you had a good crew working at the
homeless dinner.

also if looks like you had several to feed

thank you for the pictures

We had about 10-12 people fixing the food on Friday at the Aldergrove Church. The meal was served from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Sabbath in the United Church Hall on the corner of Hastings and Gore. We had about 30 people helping. They say we served from 250-300 people. We had also brought a van load of clothing, blankets, etc. and I don't think we brought anything back with us.

Now this is not the only time the homeless are fed at that church. Different denominational churches serve the food each Saturday. The Adventist Churches in the area do it once a month. And for December 1 they invited the BC ASAM to be responsible for it. We had done it about a year ago. It is certainly something that we would like to do again. It is such a blessing to know that you have helped people who really need it and appreciate it!
DARLENE
YES I am sure it is a blessing you all.

JESUS did more healing than preaching and this is
KIND of healing

I WAS in SDA church in CHARLESTON West Virginia
we did this around thankgiving time bring the people
to our fellowship hall. we did this for about 3 years
but then the pastor move away and it took the conference
over a year to get a new pastor
by then the church stop doing the dinner

dgrim60
Oh, it's too bad that the church Charleston wasn't able to keep presenting the meals. For us we were probably more blessed even than those who came to eat at our dinner!
DARLENE

YES it seems that people that give get more of a blessing

dgrimm60
We're doing it again on April 5th, 2008. We've been invited back because the people who come there to eat are asking for us. They like our food and our decorating and we provide clothing. So....our Adventist Single Adult Ministries will be feeding the homeless downtown Vancouver. We actually enjoy it and it is so rewarding.
DARLENE

well that is a good out reach feed the homeless near
christmas time and easter time.

but any time is good to reach out to people.

dgrimm60
Maybe we'll even start recognizing some of the people. Probably not though because these homeless people are so transient.
DARLENE

THAT would be nice if you would see some one you
have seen before.

but if not then the people you feel will be helped.

Actually the first time we fed the homeless I saw a man that I had known for some time. He was the former spouse of one of our Adventist teachers and I'd seen him in church many times. I guess you never know when things in life change you might be homeless and end up on the streets yourself.
