One of the best ways to invest your money and to be sure of good returns is by investing your tithe for His Kingdom.

Most of us know what tithe is but, for those who don’t, it is 1/10th of all the material things we acquire that the Lord instructs us is His and we are to return it to Him. Scripture tells us that the tithe is “holy to the Lord,” symbolizing God’s ownership of everything. It is to be returned to Him as His own.

Malachi 3:10 says “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this.” Says the Lord of hosts. “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”

My family grew up in a mixed farming area of the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. When I was nine years old I had 6 older brothers and sisters who worked after school and on Sundays in the fields and, of course, they got paid. As a nine-year-old I really wanted to have some money by working too. Finally I convinced my parents that I could do it and I also started working in the fields. I remember one of my first jobs was to carry watermelons to pick-up trucks and then unload them and pack them in a train box-car. After that, I did everything such as planting, hoeing, and picking potatoes, corn and many other vegetables.

Right from the very beginning my father ‘trained me in the way I should go,’ by having me pay tithe from what I earned. I’m sure I didn’t understand it all but, it set an example for me that I have practiced all my life; returning 10% and more to the Lord and He has been extremely good to me. He truly has kept His promise to “open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.” I have never lacked for food, clothing or housing at any time. Am I rich? No. Am I blessed with worldly goods? No. But, I am truly blessed in that I lack no good thing. Now that is what tithing and investing are all about. We are investing our time and dollars for His Heavenly Kingdom.
