Here are some everyday ideas for singles groups or just for an individual:
Host a dinner where everyone brings the ingredients to make a dish. You'll find the kitchen with activity, talk, and fun as you all work together to create a fabulous meal.
Build a campfire in the backyard (in the grill or a fire pit) and roast veggie links on sticks and make s'mores with chocolate bars, marshmallows, and graham crackers. Sit around and tell stories and enjoy the flames as they warm your fingers and toes.
Go miniature golfing together. Set up teams and prepare to laugh as you compete for the lowest scores. Give prizes to the winners, both old and young.
Go ice-skating, or to a roller rink.
Check out the local public gardens in your area, perhaps a tea garden or one with acres of roses.
Has the fair come to town? Carnivals and fairgrounds are a good way to change your routine and celebrate your country roots.
Have a games night and fill bowls with popcorn, chips, nuts, and chocolate for the competitors.
Sing in karaoke style. Crank up the tunes and laugh as everyone takes a turn singing his or her favorite song.
Go on a picnic. Pick a sunny day and pack a basket with snacks, sandwiches, chips, and sodas. Throw blankets on the gound in a park, at the zoo, or by a lake. Relax, read a book, take a nap, play catch, sketch the scenery or take a walk.
Make a Sunday brunch - a wonderful, relaxing way to entertain. Serve a frittata with a medley of fresh vegetables and cheese, roasted potatoes with rosemary and garlic, grilled veggie links, with fresh fennel, and corn muffins with stawberry jam.
Have a dessert night with with different flavoured ice creams (and fruit, nuts, and candies to mix into bowls). Don't forget vanilla!
