Onion Flatbread
This quick bread, with a distinct onion flavour and a poppy seed topping, is great served with soup or stew.
Buiscuit mix 2 cups
Onion flakes 1 tbsp
Hard Margarine (or butter), melted 1 tbsp
Poppy Seeds 1/2 tsp
Combine biscuit mix and onion flakes in medium bowl. Make a well in centre. Add 1.2 cup water to well. Stir until soft dough forms. Turn onto greased baking sheet. Pat out dough to 9 inch circle.
Brush with margarine. Sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake in 450 degrees F oven for about 10 minutes until golden. Cuts into 12 wedges.
Variation: Instead of poppy seeds, use gorund walnuts or finely chopped fresh rosemary.
Quickest Chili
It doesn't get much quicker than this! A simple one-dish meal solution.
Ground round veggie burger 1/2 pound
Fresh mixed vegetables 1 cup
Chili powder 1/2 tbsp
Cans of baked beans in tomato sauce (14 oz) 1 can
Scramble-fry ground round veggie burger in large greased frying pan on medium for about 10 minutes. Drain. Sprinkle with salt. Stir around vegetables, chili powder and 1/4 c water. Heat and stir for 2 minutes.
Add beans. Stir. Reduce heat to medium-low. Cook, uncovered, for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serves 4
Oven Ranch Fries
Medium unpeeled potatoes, each cut 2
lengthwise into 8 wedges
Cooking oil 1 tbsp
Fin dry bread crumbs 1 tbsp
Envelope of ranch dressing mix 1/2 oz.
Put potato wedges into large bowl. Drizzle with cooking oil. Toss until coated.
Combine bread crumbs and dressing mix in large resealable freezer bag. Add potato wedges in several batches. Seal bag. Toss until coated. Arrange on greased baking sheet. Bake in 375 degree oven for 45-50 minutes until tender and golden. Serves 2

Raisin bran cereal, coarsely crushed 6 cups
Chopped dried apricot 1/2 cup
Hard margarine (or butter) 1/4 cup
Package of miniature marshmallows 9 oz.
Combine cereal and apricot in extra-large bowl.
Melt margarine in large saucepan on medium. Add marshmallows. Heat and stir until smooth. Pour over cereal mixture. Stir until coated. Press in greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Chill until firm. Cuts into 15 squares.
