Hi ELEONORA. We're so glad to have you post! Nice to talk to you.
Yes, God did create man and women. That is the ideal, the way it was in the very beginning. Since that time sin has entered the world and parents aren't so perfect anymore. Many parents set an example for their children which also is not perfect. This means that their children are no longer perfect. As the result of years of sin down through the ages, humans are no longer perfect and our lives reflect our unperfectness. That is why some people are born or choose to be homosexual. Because some are born that way or choose to go that way, does not mean that God does not love them. He still tries to reach their hearts and when they choose not to practise that lifestyle he has won the victory.
It is the same with single adults. Our parents are not perfect. Our parents set an example for us as children which was not perfect. This means that we are not perfect. As a result of negect, abuse, or life choices we are single. This does not mean that God does not love us, in fact Jesus said that some are given the 'gift' of singleness. He tries to reach our hearts and when we choose to follow Him, we are sometimes single for life. But above all, Jesus loves the single, the married and the homosexual. The key is our choice. Will we choose God or will we choose to serve ourself and/or our desires?

The above discussion leads one to ask the question, did God ever deal pragmatically with a situation he didn't really approve of? Are there any examples of this in the Bible? I can think of several instances of this.

Good to have you back, surveyor!
What examples are you thinking of? Perhaps the woman at the well and, or woman caught in adultery, etc?

To clarify my question: Did God ever bless people who were not living up to the ideals of his original plan for human beings?
By pragmatic, I mean, did he deal with sinners in a logical, practical way, taking into consideration that their lives had deviated from his original plan, but he would go on blessing them anyways? Are there any examples of this in the Bible?
Here's a non-Biblical example: One of the students in my elementary school class has a very difficult time with reading, yet he is very intelligent. Ideally, he should be able to read and comprehend on his own. When I assign a multiple-choice test in Science he will fail to earn a passing grade because of his comprehension difficulty. Rather than leave him to flounder, I get a student who is good at reading comprehension to read the questions for him and he passes the test with flying colours.

HEY SURVEYOR
well some times he deal with the people right away
with KORAH DATHAN and ABIRAM
when the earth open up and swollowed all 3 for rebellion.
but then SAMSON AND KING DAVID GOD took
his time with these rebellious people.
as for as your student you are showing mercy and in time
your student needs to read for him self because he will'
not always have some one to read for him.
does this boy just have a block or is he lazy ????

In response to your question, "Did God ever bless people who were not living up to the ideals of his original plan for human beings?" I would have to say, yes, God first blessed the Woman at the Well and the woman caught in adultery. They were not living up to the ideal that God had given and still he blessed them as they were. He wanted their love and then out of their love for Him they wanted Him in their lives. After he blessed them then they changed to become what He wanted them to be.
Jesus was and still is in the business of meeting needs. Once their immediate needs were met then they changed and wanted Him in their hearts. Jesus still does that today. God knows His created beings and their needs. He meets those needs just as He meets the needs of lily of the field and the sparrow that falls. Then out of our love for Him we give ourselves to Him.

Very well put. I can think of other examples as well.
God created Adam and Eve but he blessed Abraham, Sarah and Hagar. (If we had been in charge we would probably have got rid of all three of them and chosen another couple.)
God told Israel they would not need to fight to clear the promised land - he would drive the people out with hornets (note he didn't say he'd kill them - the Philistines would probably have leaped into their kayaks and paddled as hard as they could for the islands they originally came from), yet God blessed the Israelites in their battles.
God said having an earthly king was an abomination, yet he blessed David and Solomon and Elizabeth II and other human monarchs who followed his ways.
Jesus ate meat before and after his resurrection. He even fed meat to his disciples. Do you think he knew that flesh food was not the best diet? Yet he lived in tune with the culture of the day. (I really wonder how he could have sunk his teeth into a dear little fish that a moment before had been cavorting about the Sea of Galilee. He would have known how every muscle fibre and nerve and blood vessel was designed and fashioned.)
Isn't it wonderful that God acts in such a pragmatic way - I think this should be of encouragement to every gay and lesbian person who visits this site - and you are right - he then inspires us to reach out to him, to have our selfish egos exchanged for his other-serving egos.

I like your description: "(I really wonder how he could have sunk his teeth into a dear little fish that a moment before had been cavorting about the Sea of Galilee. He would have known how every muscle fibre and nerve and blood vessel was designed and fashioned.)" Can't you just imagine!
I've only tasted meat about 3-4 times in my teen years and just thinking about eating meat now makes me want to upchuck. Gross!
Anway........I like your example of Adam and Eve, Abraham, Sarah and Hagar. Yes, Jesus met people where they were at, loved them, met their needs and then when He got their confidence and at their invitation came into their lives and the change began. He never condemns people for what they were doing wrong but shows them a better way.
Here is a small part of a semon that I have been presenting lately. It kind of says what I am trying to say above:
Shrieks of anger rent the air as the disciples and Jesus were stepping out of the boat onto dry land on the shores of Gaderenes. The sight that met their eyes sent them frantically scurrying, stumbling over each other in their haste to get back into the boat. They were ready to shove off back into the water when they realized that Jesus was not with them. Peering back they saw him calmly standing waiting as the terrifying, violent men approached.
Another time a weeping woman clutching her clothing to herself was cast at the feet of Jesus. The woman caught in the very act of adultery. One whom the Law of Moses said must be stoned but Jesus quietly turned and writing in the dust on the ground exposed the sins of her accusers who slunk away one by one. Turning to the woman he asked in John 8:10 “Woman where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”
In both these instances Jesus sets an example for us, His church, an example which we need to take heed and follow in our soul saving work.
Did he tell the people in the stories about the gospel and the wonderful plan of salvation first? No, He met their needs. The need for physical healing. The need for understanding. The need to be loved and accepted. The need for self-worth. He was the creator and he understood the needs of his created beings. He understood how to reach hearts. Hearts to be saved for His Kingdom.
In all His created beings, young and old, alike he placed basic needs which must be met in order to function well. I’d like to review them with you this morning in the order of their priority.
1. The first basic need is the need for food, water and air to breathe to maintain a living health.
2. The second is the need for protection and safety – to have appropriate clothing for the climate in which we live and the need for a safe place to live.
3. The third need is the need to belong and be loved or you could say what we think others feel about us.
4. The fourth basic need of all people is the need for esteem and self-worth or you could say the way we feel about ourselves.
And I’d like to add one very basic need which I feel the professionals who made this list have left out and that is the built in vacuum that we all have for a god to worship. If we don’t worship the God of Creation we will fill that void with some other kind of god that we create ourselves.
Needs and Jesus cannot be separated. Needs and children cannot be separated. Needs and adults cannot be separated. We His Church, must be in the business of meeting needs just as Jesus was in the business of meeting needs.
Many of Jesus miracles were performed to meet the first need of the human body; the need for good health. One can summarize Jesus daily earthly ministry by looking at the book of Matthew chapter 15 and verse 30.
“And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feel; and he healed them: (31) Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.”

I hope to hear that sermon one day - sounds like you have worked out a good basis for it, based on the hierarchy of needs - I recall studying that pyramid in psych class...and you are right, we all have a built-in need for something/someone bigger than ourselves, someone to worship.

I like the part where it says that "...Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.”
Once needs are met and people realize who met those needs they too will ..."glorify the God of Israel."
Don't know when you will hear that sermon though, surveyor. I do plan on coming that way in the near future, but not to preach a sermon.
