2008 San Juan Bicycle Trip
To Lopez Island & San Juan Island
It is a SHORT list (16 People Max).
This is because this is our first year planning this event and because there is a limit to the Campsites.
If this event is successful then we will expand next year.
Dates:
Arrival Date - Thursday July 24th
Departure Date – Sunday July 27th
Cost – $65.00 U.S.
This includes Food, Lodging (Tent Sites), one Large Tent, Ferry Ride for you and your Bike, Wood for fire, Transportation for your gear & Bike from Beaverton SDA Church.
Plus: Gas Roundtrip to Anacortes and Parking at Anacortes Ferry for 3 days.
Participants – Limited to 16.
We have several openings.
NO Showers
Water is available for drinking on Island and Puget Sound is Salt Water (Swimming).
We are arriving on Thursday since we do not want to do all of the traveling and setup on Friday.
(Marce's idea).
Please SAVE those dates if you are still planning on attending this great event.
If you are NOT planning on attending please let Charlotte or myself know as soon as you can.
In the meantime – get that bike and Helmut out and do a “Tune up” on you and your Bike.
The plan is as follows:
Thursday: Carpool from Beaverton SDA Church at 9 am. Arrive at Anacortes Mainland (5 hour trip from Beaverton) on Thursday July 24th 1PM. Board Ferry. Don't miss the Ferry.
Take Ferry (you will park your vehicle and walk with your Bicycle onto the Ferry) to Lopez Island at 2:30PM.
Our group will Camp at 2 Reserved sites (I have secured one large tent for about 6 people (16 foot X 12 Foot). Sign up for that.
Friday: Bike around Lopez Island 20 miles one way (10 Miles round trip) to other end of island (Lighthouse). A person does not need to bike the entire island if they feel they are unable to or does not want to. (After all it is an island - you won't get lost).
Sabbath: Take Ferry to San Juan Island (Friday Harbor) - Church, Potluck and then bike around the island for the afternoon.
Sunday: Leave on the ferry for Anacortes (45 minutes) and then drive home.
The trip on the Ferry will be you and your Bike while Karen drives her Van with Camping equipment and Food.
More details to follow as we continue to plan.
So for now just sign up and place this on your calendar.
We can carpool from Beaverton SDA Church or you can meet at Anacortes (so plan on carpooling). I will get a list out after we have received payments.
SO - Please sign up and get that check to Charlotte (503-579-9549) as soon as possible to reserve your spot.
