HEY ALL

I just read a report about how apples can make you
slimmer.

we have all heard the statement " an apple a day
can keep the doctor away"

well now they are saying that you can be slimmer also.

Americans who consume lots of apples---apple juice---
and apple sauce have smaller waist and significantly less
risks of metabolic syndrome------a cluster of health related
problems link to cardiovascular disease and diabetes. A survey
was done by the government's National Health and Nutrition
Examination Dept. The finds were that those people who have
a apple or a cup of apple juice or a serving of applesauce a
day are 21% more apt to have a smaller waist and 37% less
to have high blood pressure.


so now we have more reason to eat apples

Apples and apple juice have been a secret in my weight control arsenal for years -- I just didn't know it! I just thought I ate them because they taste so good. Especially the ones that come from the tree in my back yard. There is nothing like fresh picked. Mine are gone now; they're an early variety that ripens from the end of July into the beginning of August. However, apple harvest is ready to begin in the local mountains around where I live.....oh I can hardly wait! Does anyone else live near apple orchards?

well no I have not lived new and fruit orchards.....
but my GRANDFATHER had 2 different apple trees in his
yard and one of my uncles had an apple tree---pear tree---
apricot tree----and peach tree and my dad had a
cherry tree

so I grow up with lots of fruit pies and fruit jams.

Apples consumption equals a slim waist? I've lived on apples for years but, my waist isn't too slim anymore. Sad

I was born and raised in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia where there is an apple tree for every man, woman and child. (well.....almost :- ) We lived on apples. My father would buy boxes and boxes of apples each fall and store them in our root house and we would eat them all winter long. My mother would can hundreds of jars of apple sauce and make apple plachinda all winter long. We lived on apples! I remember coming home from school and eating 3 or 4 apples and we would have apples in our lunch and apples for supper and I never, ever got tired of eating apples. I still eat two or three each day. And both my parents lived to be 96. (Well my mother just passed away and was 23 days short of 96 years). So, I would have to say that apple consumption not only equals a slim waits but a long life! Very Happy
