2007 ASAM Convention and Training Event
I am excited! Just got off a conference call concerning a very wonderful upcoming event for all North America single adults. July 5-8, 2007 in --?-- Florida. (I don't know the name at the moment though others do and I will find out the location today and post it here) A real opportunity to let everyone in our church know we exist. So, start planning now to attend! Start saving your money so you can attend! It will be one-of-a-kind that you won't want to miss. We are hoping for thousands to attend. Really!
There will also be training workshops at this event in Orlando, Florida. You will be hearing much more in the very near future.

Chaplain Black, eh? Now that I could handle. Perhaps that is an event that would be worth attending. Please keep us posted.

Re: 2007 ASAM Convention and Training Event
Do you know if there are going to be seminars specifically for local leaders on such things as how to get started, avoid pitfalls, etc.?

Yes, there are supposed to be workshops like that. I know the website doesn't include the list of workshops. Hopefully they'll post those very soon.

They now have the list of workshops and presenters on the Pursue Your Passion website. Sounds like some very good ones. Here is the website link again:

Re: 2007 ASAM Convention and Training Event
I just went to the Pursue Your Passion website and noticed they had extended the Early Bird registration to May 10. However, I didn't see anything about the cruise that was going to be the week after. Is that still on, and where would I go to find more info?

The cruise is still on although it may already be full. Lorraine said they had quite a few going. You can contact her at: LThomasASAM@aol.com.

Re: 2007 ASAM Convention and Training Event
I talked with Lorraine, and she said that there will be space for the cruise, as long as you register before May 1. My daughter talked me into going, just when I had decided not to. I went ahead and registered, since I didn't want to let that deadline slip by me.
It seems that, at one point, there was an online link to the cruise info, but I just can't find it. I do know they are going to Cozumel, but I don't know the beginning and ending dates, just that it starts immediately after the weekend in Orlando. They have two prices: $455 for an interior room, and $505 for an ocean view room. I really don't think I would be spending that much time in my cabin, but just in case, I went for the ocean view. It seemed to be worth $50 to me.
As usual, they need more men to register. Is it because there are more single women, or is it that more of the men have jobs that prevent them from going? As I keep telling a casual male friend of mine who is extremely interested in getting married, why not go to one of these events? With women outnumbering the men, the odds are in his favor! If I had the money, I'd pay for him to go. Then maybe he'd find someone and stop belly achin' about being single. ;D If only there were some way one could make an anonymous charitable donation. . .

Re: 2007 ASAM Convention and Training Event
Hi LynnDel,
I am so glad your daughter talked you into going; and that you got an ocean-side room. How fun!
Take lots of pictures to share with those of us who can't go. :-[
Sometimes being single is just not what any of us choose, and it sounds as though this is the case with your friend. At least he has a good friend to listen when he wants to belly ache about being single. Oops sorry .... courage

Re: 2007 ASAM Convention and Training Event
Well I never! Hadn't heard of this convention before. (probably because I haven't been in the forum for a while) Sounds like a good place to be. Maybe I'll have to see if I can go.
