Bald Eagle Cam

The whole world is watching the Bald Eagle Cam which is trained on an eagles nest not too far away from us. They are a pair of 15+ year old birds and the first egg has disappeared and they have one left. It seems it too may have a problem and will not hatch.....but.........we wait and see.

Re: Bald Eagle Cam

If this is the nest on Denman Island, I heard via the radio last week that the second egg had also malfunctioned - tho the birds were still sitting on the nest as though it was there. What a wonderful idea tho - to have the webcam there. How long until one is installed in a fox den, a cougar's lair and a hospital emergency room?

Re: Bald Eagle Cam

Yes, both eggs in the original nest did not hatch. They say those parent birds are too old to have fertilile eggs. They have since moved the cam to another nest where it is my understanding the eggs have already hatched. The nest now highlighted in this cam is the new one with the hatched babies. If you watch for a while you might see the babies being fed.

Re: Bald Eagle Cam

"Ugly but cute little things"!!! I wonder if that's what the angels and inhabitants of other planets say as they tune into the webcam on this planet. How eager they must be to see us grow and develop in God's image - and they hope and pray that one day we will fly away to that heavenly country.

Re: Bald Eagle Cam

Boy, I came here again this evening and can't see any birds. Maybe they just moved in the nest. I hope so. Yah, they're ugly little things, but cute. I'll have to check back later to be sure they are okay.

Re: Bald Eagle Cam

That's a relief! They are there and a parent is feeding them. One little baby is bigger than the other and seems to be given more food. Either he's older or healthier.

Re: Bald Eagle Cam

I've been keeping an eye on these growing babies too. Cute little things, however I'm glad I don't have to live up in that tree and eat some of the same things they do. Now that would be scary! ;D

Re: Bald Eagle Cam

Wow! The eagles nest has changed to one in Stanley Park in Vancouver, BC and yes there was an eagle in it when I was there. Can't see any eggs yet but, that will come.......

The website has changed somewhat and has a lot of other things which is great. There are webcams on a grizzle bear, hummingbirds, an African water hole and of course the bald eagle nest.

The bald eagle is at:

http://www.cbc.ca/bc/features/eaglecam/index.html

For the others you can still use the previous link and click on the Wildlife option.

Re: Bald Eagle Cam

The grizzly bears look like they are in a zoo. Is that correct or are they in the wild?

I didn't see anything at the Eagle cam but saw a fox or something of the like at the Africam. Fun!

RE: Bald Eagle Cam

Well, I'll be! He was there; the grizzly bear I mean. That is the first time that I saw him. And I didn't know they liked water so much. He was in the water the whole time I watched. I'll have to come and check on them more often.

RE: Bald Eagle Cam

Actually, no. There are hundreds of eagles around here during the winter because they winter in this area. Just north of Vancouver, at Brackendale near Squamish is the World Eagle Capital. Check out the following websites:

http://www.brackendaleartgallery.com/Eagles.html

http://www.brackendaleeagles.com/

Actually this year in January they only counted 893 eagles while in 2000 they counted 2466. Seems there must be a reason why they are down so much.

RE: Bald Eagle Cam

Well, I haven't been successful in finding a working eagle cam on the links posted on this site. They don't seem to be working but, I found one today on CBC/British Columbia website and can watch an eagle on it's nest. The link will probably work for a while but, I don't know how long. Here it is:

http://www.cbc.ca/bc/features/eaglecam/index.html

You have to wait awhile before it connects. But...it is there! Smile
