Two Very Famous Adventist Potluck Recipes

Well the two following recipes have often been used for Adventist potlucks; either lunch or supper, and are they good! Haystacks and Hawaiian Haystacks.

Haystacks

Begin with a layer of cornchips
Cover with a bean mixture (a mixture of mashed beans and some
whole beans with tomato sauce and veggie burger)
Sprinkle grated dairy cheese or tofu rella cheese
This can be followed with whatever a person chooses:
chopped up lettuce, green onions, peppers, tomatoes, olives,
pickles, nuts, seeds, etc.

Hawaiian Haystacks

Begin with layer of chinese noodles covered by a layer of cooked rice.

Covered this with a mixture of mushroom or celery soup to 1/2 can of water or milk. (can use 1 can of soup to 3/4 can of water thickened with cornstarch. This helps to make it stretch farther). Mix in diced fried chik, juice and all. Then flavour with curry according to your taste.

Toppings - chopped finely (or by preference)
Black olives, green pepper, red pepper, yellow or orange pepper,
cucumber, green onions, radishes, tomatoes, peanuts, sunflower seeds, pioneapple, and coconut.

You can use your imagination for the toppings for both of these recipes.

RE: Two Very Famous Adventist Potluck Recipes

When I moved to Alberta, I had my sister Alberta (really) and some of her family over for supper one night and had Hawiian Haystacks. This is something she can eat (she has a lot of problems with many food). So since that time I have been at their place 3 or 4 times for Hawiian Haystacks. Sure are good!

The evening they came I also had the Chocolate Tofu Pudding and it was something that she could eat so now she makes that one quite often, too.

It's nice to live where we have so many family members.

RE: Two Very Famous Adventist Potluck Recipes

Yes, my sister really struggles with food....always has. Even as a child and teenager she could not eat things with oils/fats. Now as an adult there are quite a number of foods she can't eat.

And....this past year she was diagnosed with A typical tuberculosis which most people in North America do not get. She was very fortunate that a doctor who used to practise medicine in another country recognized the symptoms. Now she is receiving treatment. Now A typical tuberculosis does not have anything to do with foods but, it is still helping her to know what it is she has and it is treatable so maybe the food will not be as toxic to her.

RE: Two Very Famous Adventist Potluck Recipes

One of the other secretaries and I prepared lunch for the Evangelism Committee today and it was Hawiian Haystacks. They like it very, very much. Have to do it again soon, because I made too much rice so I froze it and will use it again soon.
