It is very hard to find good speakers and presenters for Adventist Single Adult Ministry Events. Right now I am looking for one for our upcoming retreat in May. Does anyone have any suggestions to give?

The best speaker we have had who spoke on issues of interest to single adults was:
Dr. Jeffrey Brown - author of the book Single and Gifted Following our retreat we had several singles say he was the best one they have heard.

Other excellent ones:

Pastor Terry Johnsson author of "For His Honor" and 2 other books
Melbourne Turgott - from CaUC
Bill Needham - Former Washington State president of ASM

We had Nancy VanPelt do her 'Smart Love' workshop at our camp meeting one year. It was very well attended. She has some good information.

Harvey and Kathy Corwin are excellent presenters. I know that the Upper Columbia Conference ASAM Retreat in May will certainly appreciate having them as speakers

Another name to add to the list is:

A. Allan Martin and his wife. Allan is an associate professor of Family Ministry and Discipleship at Andrews University Seminary and operates the Young Adult Salty Fish website.

A great speaker (if she is available) is Dr Hyveth Williams. She is the senior pastor at the Campus Hills Church in Loma Linda, California and also an adjunct professor at the School of Theology there. She is a single pastor with a great message and ministry.

Here is another very good speaker, Pastor Alphod, C. Sinclair. I have not heard him but, he comes highly recommended by Andrea Hicks, as a Single Adult Ministries Retreat speaker.

We had a good presentation by a Matt Parra (Michigan Conference) at our BC Camp Meeting Single Adult Ministries one night. He shared that he had been single for seven years before his recent marriage, and viewed his singleness as an opportunity in time to spend working on his relationship with God. Did a great job!

One of the best sermons I have heard presented on single adults was presented by Dr. Barry Black at the "Pursue Your Passion" ASAM Convention in Orlando, Florida in July of 2007. He is an excellent presenter but is probably very hard to get since he is in such great demand and his workload is probably very heavy.

Another name for a guest speaker to add to the list is Pastor Floyd Spence of one of the churches in Ottawa, Ontario. He spoke at our recent retreats and did an excellent job of fitting into our theme and in presentation. You wouldn't go wrong in having him as the speaker for a single adult ministries retreat or convention!

I'm going to add another name here but, I hope you don't get to her before I do. That person is Carol Barron. She spoke at our Women's Ministries Retreat and they loved her! She is single.

And......she said yes! Carol Barron will be our speaker for our 2008 Fall Thanksgiving Retreat in October. We're really looking forward to having her as our speaker.
